Always have something to write with.
Always set 2 alarms to wake up.
Be prepared to do the work.
Be a sponge!
Invest in highlighters.
Buy your textbooks before classes start and get to know them…even before assignments are made. Just browse.
Make a copy of EVERYTHING you turn in to administration.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Don’t believe every single thing an instructor says as fact…they’re human. Your thoughts and opinions are important too.
With that in mind, always be respectful to them. They have what you want, experience.
Pick your battles.
Your family and non-nursing relationships, employers, etc. need to be educated on what nursing school entails and the phrase “clinical night” should never be questioned.
Oh and make friends, your nursing school friends will be your lifelines and they’ll become family to you!
Make sure this is what you want. Nursing school has to be your priority….they will make you jump through hoops and make you question the decision to become a nurse every day. But stick with it! One class at a time, one day at time, one clinical at a time…if this is what you want, nothing can stop you!

Kerley B lines - thin 1 to 2 cm horizontal lines in the peripheries of the lung which extend out to the pleural surface. They represent thickened subpleural interlobular septa due to lymphatic engorgement most commonly related to pulmonary interstitial oedema. They are best seen at the lung bases.
Moment of birth captured with MRI scanner
As if contemplating childbirth wasn’t daunting enough, a woman in Germany has given birth whilst being scanned in an MRI machine. It’s the first time the moment of birth has been captured using MRI.
A group at Berlin’s Charité University Hospital delivered the baby while the mother lay in the scanner. The open design allowed medics access to both mother and baby while it recorded the baby’s journey from its mother’s birth canal into the big wide world.
The team developed new fetal monitoring equipment to withstand the strong magnetic field produced by the scanners. They hope the images will shed light on the causes of stalled labour. Five more births have been scheduled for the scanner.
